AXA Sin Bin

Image result for abused your staffThe penalty box (sometimes called the sin bin or bad box) is the area in ice hockey, roller derby, rugby league, rugby union and some other sports where a player sits to serve the time of a given penalty, for an offence not severe enough to merit outright expulsion from the contest.

What is AXA Sin Bin – AXA Sin Bin is AXA Agency Manager Development program specially designed by a psychopath. AXA Sin Bin is held on a monthly basis. Participants are virtually locked in a dark room for more than 8 hours.

The objective of AXA Sin Bin is to achieve SHIT:-

S (Scold) – Key staffs take turns to scold, insult and blame participants for underperformance – low production and/or inadequate new recruit

H (Humiliate) – Key staffs humiliate the participants with derogatory words, name- calling and sarcasm.

I (Intimidate) – Key staffs intimidate participants using fear. Participants are threatened with withdrawal of benefits, suspension and termination

T (Transform) – Key staffs uses fear management & force to petrify & transform UM & AM into silent obedient follower

Who Must Participate in Sin Bin – Underperforming Unit Manager (UM) and Agency Manager (AM) are forced to attend. UM or AM that refused to attend Sin Bin are penalized and subsequently terminated.

Dictatorship - Dictator uses fear as the main weapon to influence his agency. He shouts, humiliates, ridicules and scolds agencies like school children. The Dictator feels good when agencies fear or is petrified of him. Dictator does not respect to the agencies or co-workers.

Agency/staff under the Dictatorship are unhappy, afraid to make mistakes, unproductive. AXA morale is at an all-time low. There is no solution to deal with the Dictator. You should quit AXA immediately and join a professionally managed Insurer like AIA, Prudential or Great Eastern. They do not have Sin Bin to insult & torture you.

AXA Dictator

Image result for dictatorFrom 2000 to 2006, one in four CEO tenures ended in forced dismissal according to Fortune magazine. This dismissal resulted from the boss being overly inflexible or too demanding and employees being unhappy. And make no mistake; leading like a dictator is one of the fastest ways to foster workplace discontent.

AXA is operating under a toxic environment – dictatorship – and this will surely leads AXA straight into the gutter. Hundreds of agencies are terminated without giving any reason and dictatorship rules:-

The Company Revolves Around You - Employees/Agency are able to describe you in one word: self-centered. Without your so-called guidance - all would be lost. Your inferior employees/agents are there to carry out orders that further your personal objectives.

You Obsessively Control Employees/Agency - You enjoy wasting time by micromanaging every employee/agency task. You make people work precisely when, where, and how you want them to. Your office is an elementary school classroom where you need to monitor every movement, action, and breathe your employee/agent makes.

You “Inspire” with Fear - You made known that mistake or dissent can be punishable by unemployment or termination of agency agreement. Your method to motivate people is to make them feel like their job is something they must do to survive rather than something they want to do. Your whatapps are laced with threats, sarcasms, insults and derogatory word - aimed to maximize employee/agent panic.

Priorities Start and End with Work - There is no room for excuse - when there’s work to do. “Work/life balance” and “personal time” don’t exist. You interrupt employees/agents after work and during weekend - expecting them to cater to your needs 24/7.

Respect Doesn’t Matter - Your ideal image of a leader-follower relationship is to give as little as possible and get a lot back. Whenever an employee/agent has done something wrong, you don’t hesitate to “chew-out” a person. You do not waste the chance to make an example of one person and motivate the others to do their job right

You are Never Wrong - You never admit to being wrong. It is my way or the highway. You have a line of scapegoats outside your office just waiting to take the blame? You’re the leader of the company, your image is its most important asset, and being wrong is not an option.

Managing like a dictator - creates a toxic & stressful workplace environments. Life Insurers (Great Eastern, Prudential, AIA) works closely with agencies force to build a successful organization. AXA took a different route preferring to insult, humiliate & bully the agency force.

AXA Bully Management

Image result for dictatorAXA agency leader development program is “SIN BIN”. Sin Bin is the brainchild of the AXA CAO. Sin Bin is designed to penalize underperforming agency leader who failed to produce RM30,000 premium in a month. At Sin Bin, agency leaders are virtually locked in a “dark room” for 8 hours. CAO and his officers take turn to abuse, humiliate & threaten the attendees. Agency leaders that refuse to attend Sin Bin are suspended and terminated.

If the schoolyard is the stomping ground of bully boys and bully girls, then AXA office is the playground of adult bullies. Bully seeks to make his subordinate staff/agency feels uncomfortable, inadequate, sad or angry. Bully - tends to invoke negative emotions among subordinates.

Disrespect - every AXA staff/ agency has a war story to share. The CAO likes to whatapps you at midnight to the wee hours in the morning and expecting you to response immediately. Staff/agency that failed to response - are branded (in capital letter) - as Penderhaka, Pengkianat, Traitor, kurang ajar or Jamban (shit-house). Bullies don't recognize their impoliteness and they don't apologize.

Hurt, Humiliate & Intimidate - bullies do a lot of damage in organizations. They make staff/agency run scared. They put people in a protective mode, which interferes with the company's ability to motivate its staff/agency. The objective of bullying is to hurt someone, lashing out at them, being inconsistent and chipping away at their confidence. Bullies erode staff and agency productivity and judgment.

Basically bully is insecure, insensitive and suffers from inferiority complex. They don't see themselves accurately but assumes they better than others - which acts to justify their bullying.

When a bully is allowed to remain in place, it means the leaders above him are supporting him. If those in charge look the other way while a bully is abusing people, then they are the real culprits.  If the top management is afraid of the bully - that can be another reason this bully is allowed to continue.

Attempts from staff and agency to enlighten this person will usually be fruitless. Never tolerate a bully - even if you have to quit. I firmly believe that it’s never okay to be in an abusive relationship. If your business is slowly eroding away your overall health and well-being, then it’s just not worth it anymore.

AXA Fear Management

Image result for dictatorAIA, Prudential & GE produced more than RM900 million new premiums each versus AXA RM60 million. This 3 top insurer's success can be traced to a professional management style focusing on RESPECT-based management. AXA uses FEAR-based management style to intimidate and humiliate its agency.

Fear-based management style is counter- productive. AXA mistook fear for respect and bullying for motivation. If you want to be obeyed and respected - you better understand the difference between the two management styles.

Controlling people through fear has been around for many years in the military and in slavery. AXA employs fear-based management where staff and agency are controlled and being treated unfairly and poorly. Example:-

·         Intimidation, humiliation and bullying

·         Marginalization, withdrawal of benefits and privileges

·         Demotion of agency

·         Suspension of agency

·         Termination of agency

Fear-based management breeds manipulation and resentment resulting in staff and agency sabotaging the company. It hinders success leading to high employee/agency turnover, which equates to loss of investment, capital, resources, and time.

Fear is something that is demanded, while respect is something that is earned. AXA can force someone to do tasks, but no amount of fear can force someone to do more than what is required of him. Fear, in essence, can't make anyone care for the company.

AXA needs to encourage productivity and efficiency, but this cannot be achieved by fear-based management. Anyone - considering joining the life insurance industry, AXA should not be in your radar. If you are an agency in AXA – it is highly likely that you will catch terminal cancer due to a toxic fear-management environment. You should leave and join AIA, Prudential or GE, where you stand a better chance to succeed in a company that is professionally managed.
